How come I never find deals like that? I always seem to pay 2x what I should!!!

I guess having patience and waiting for the right deal goes a long way.

Ya thats right! Got the body off sandblasting and the trunk/wheel wells will go in asap. Also got the engine tore down last weekend. Will prep the block for machining this week. Turns out the motor I bought had been run REAL hard as the cam lobes were practically wiped out yikes. Luckily the shortblock looks good so in goes a fresh set of pistons/rings and we'll be back in action! this thing has got to be done by late September

I too am going the LS route. I had a guy use a great analogy concerning the LS series. The traditional Chevy engine is a Timex. The LS is a Rolex.

If you are looking for a cam I have a Futral Motorsports F11-114 (228/230 duration, .576/.595 114 lsa).
cam, brand new, for sale. I'll throw in a brand new set of exhaust valves to go with it. PM me if interested.

the LS1 has been reduced to a short block. i have blood all over my hands and oil all over the garage floor.

just to let you guys know: THE CRANK BOLT IS A TOTAL BITCH!!!

trying to get the crank bolt out was an adventure! i had my buddy drop off a spare flywheel to aid in keeping the engine from rotating. had to go to two different chevy dealers for some flywheel bolts, and lastly my dad and i had to locate his fly wheel turning wrench.

i tried to apply pressure to the flywheel wrench while my dad put all his might in to the crank bolt with the jack handle attached, but it wouldn't budge. we finally found a cap head screw and threaded that in to the flywheel where the clutch bolts on but backwards so it would brace against the block and hold the flywheel in place. I again held the flywheel still with the wrench along with the bolt and...... CRACK!!!! the crank bolt finally broke loose! what a pain in the butt.

after that we had to pull the balancer. we didnt have one of those fancy 3 finger pullers so we just got a large washer and pulled it old school style. thank god the engine had an after market balancer with 3 threaded holes in the front like a SBC. without it i would have had to buy or rent the puller.

and lastly, while removing the cam retainer bolts i slipped and cut the hell out of my index finger on casting on the edge of the block.

found out the timing chain is a roll master and the oil pump looks really shiny like it could be new also... who knows. all i know is that the factory camaro oil pan is a turd and it must weight at least 30 pounds. thats next for sale if anyone whats to "jump on it"

now i gotta figure out how to package and ship these heads. thanks for listening to me rant! more to come.

I just wanna give a 'shout-out' to Dcx (Justin) for the Camshaft and Pushrods I recieved today. Awesome deal for the TR224 and Thunder Racing hardened pushrods. Everything was packaged up beautifully and he was prompt on shipping. Sure wish there was a trader rating on this website, but this will have to do. Again...thanks for a pleasant transaction, Justin and good luck with your project.

Maybe you could give him a trader bump on ls1tech. He was great with me too. Especially when I backed out like a punk because my block was cracked. Sorry DcX wish I could make it up to ya after wasting so much of your time. This guy is MORE than fair with prices

thank you for the kind words guys. im just glad i can help others that share my passion for the hobby.

to be honest, im considering just throwing a new cam in the engine and running the heads i have. weighting the costs of a ricks gas tank or a few hp with ported heads has been a heavy one.

I have the same problem. Which is why absolutely nothing is getting done: I can't decide on what to do!

well i decided to check the injectors on the ls6 manifold and was pleased to find that they are part# d3165ba, Racetronix 37lb/hr delphi injectors, at $37 each i think i scored.

now im faced with a new problem... TO CARB OR NOT TO CARB!

when looking at my finances and my patients level (i know this has been beaten to death) the carb is way cheaper to do. looking at the prices of programed PCMs and stand alone harnesses im looking at close to $1300 for wiring alone! vs. a victor manifold and MSD 6ls ignition (total 600) which can be tuned with a lap top and its supplied software.

I feel like crap. i bought some ls1 fans from ls1 tech and the mounting tabs were broken in the box. im sure someone could use them to mount to standard camaro radiator like rodder did, but for my application on a 98-02 F body radiator i cant use them.

thats crap. Hmm, stick with the injection and you wont be dissapointed. There is a fello on ebay that makes the harnesses and ecm for around 500-600 bucks. It is completely stand alone. If you can't find him send me a pm and I'll look him up. Answered all my questions
