Small block conversion questions
Don't know if this is the right section for this but.....
I have the buick 3.8 V6 in my 86 Regal. I have a GM crate motor to put into it with a Turbo 400 tranny.
1. Which engine mounts do I need to get it in there ?
2. Which tranny crossmember do I need ? (need one for dual exhaust too)
3. Will I need a different driveshaft ? (the car has the crappy 200 in it, not the 2004r or whatever it is)
Any other tid bits of info you can offer would be great.
ThanksTim Baillie

07-18-2007 #2The mounts need to be from any 78-88 g body with a chevy V8. You'll have to change the frame side rubber and the motor side steel. No factory cars had true dual exhaust so the crossmember needs to be modified or replaced. It should work for the different trans, it'll move forward and back. You might have to redrill a few holes. Different years had different holes stock. The driveshaft will be an inch or two short Have it lengthened or some places like Speedway Motors sell longer yokes.
