"Surprise" visits always set the tone. After a few of them, they get the hint and start getting things moving quickly.

      Hey Tyler,

Why not let the company that did Red Witch's hood do your body kit?
They did a great job and have a good reputation with members of this board and they have proven they can work w/ CF.

Just a suggestion from another fan that would love to see this project completed.

Wow Tyler. That story is just shocking to me. You've gotten the hard screw twice, and in a major way.
I hate seeing jerk-offs doing **** like they did to you and getting away with it.

All I can say is I LOVE ALL MY ATS PARTS!!!! I hope you find the motivation or contacts to get the car and molds going again.

      Sorry man.

... It doesnt do you any good if they cant pay up. Just think about Ford Motor Company... they walked away from almost $1M... and I think they knew they would never see it, so they just wrote it off. But dont think Ctek didnt take a beating for bending Ford over.

The snatch and grab from Ctek was a hoot. Boy-o-boy was the owner a true idiot. If Tyler told the whole story about what we went through to get the car out of there... he would have this place in stiches.

That really sucks Tyler, that is the thing I hated most about a project leaving your car in somebody else's hands. Hopefully you will make back the lost money and finish 50-50 one day, your original LT1-T56 combo inspired my build alot. And I give you full props for where you have taken ATS.

I know it's probably a waste of time, but did you get any agreements in writing? If so then you would have a case to get back some money.

      Good luck bud.

does 50/50 run though? i say forget the body kit. it looked awesome but the car can be conceived as a "stage 1" 50/50 with just a good clean stock 68 body with a sleeper surprise chassis. i just wanna see how well the car runs with some numbers.

but we should all take out our baseball bats and find those dudes.

After reading that I don't feel so bad about the jerk offs that have ripped me off over the years getting work done.

High end work....or trying to get it done means more $$$ to loose. I really hope your business takes off and someday covers your losses.

Geez....and I complained about my Ipod gettin' stolen. That sucks Tyler. I can't believe how many bad, dishonest companies are out there. Makes me scared to take my car anywhere.

I just need to stop pursuing composites. I have been burned by 3 different carbon companies, but I still go back for more. I can't help myself.

Car is still collecting rust and dust in my garage. I might even uncover it one day in the near future and get back to work on it. Today is not that day however.

      50-50

Tyler's woes aside, this illustrates just how fly-by-night and fickle this industry can be. Some of the worst offenders are in the import 'tuner' shops... wow I've seen some really bad stuff there. The real crappy part is that for every bad deal or ripoff out there, 2/3rds come from young shops that bite off more than they can chew.

We're actually lucky to have so many shops and vendors that deliver. Look at the list of sponsors on the right; I would bet that many of you have had a good or great experience from at least one or two of them. I started to type a list, then realized that I was listing a bunch of the sponsors!

Tyler- I'm feeling ya, man. I've had my Firebird off the road for 8 years now. In 2006, I finally gained some steam (the only year I deployed for lest than 2 months). Then 2007 came, 10.5 months of it in Iraq. Now, the Navy has seen fit to send me up to Maine without my wife and kids (umm...and my Firebird) for about 2 years. This **** is getting old. SO, maybe RTH V will be my unveiling.

Maybe this will make you feel better:
My bird, circa 1998 (camera date FUBAR'd)

May 2006 My son still very un-impressed with my progress: I will say that was the day I built the body cart & began the minitub install. At least the coilover conversion, MT's & Qlink are done...(after the picture was taken)

Thanks for letting us know- If I'm ever out near Vegas, I'd be happy to come turn a wrench or do some custom wiring for ya.

I know about an empty trailer coming from nebraka in a few weeks and then a 2 car trailer coming from nebraska with only one car in it in a few weeks after that. The trailer is actually stopping at the drag strip for the weekend.

There is finally an end to long tale of what happened to 50/50. I moved the car out of my garage in August to a storage spot down the street. The plan was to un-clutter my shop, and get some good useable space in my house. I went to grab a mock up display there last night and to my surprise my unit no longer had a lock on it.

I bet you can guess what I'm about to say next.

So I roll up the sliding bay door to take peak and my heart sinks. 50/50 has been stolen. It looks like a bomb went off inside my storage unit. They took the car, the body kit, the HRE wheels, the drivetrain; everything but some old displays from SEMA, a tool box full of hardware and a few chairs. Even better than that was there is another 68 RS/SS sitting on a trailer OUTSIDE 14 feet from my unit that was left alone

I called the police, who told me to come down and file a report (they wouldn't even send a unit over to dust for prints) called the storage space manager to have them review the security tapes and went home. Got a call this morning that it was stolen by flatbed over 3 weeks ago around 4pm in the afternoon. Even have pics of the truck and guys who took it. I have little hope that it will be recovered as anything but a shell, and I can kiss those HRE wheels good bye. Keep your eyes peeled though, and call my shop if you have seen or heard anything about it.

That car and period of my life is dead to me now. I don't really want it back anymore now that it has been ransacked and mistreated by yet another group of people.

From here on out just leave this car be. I don't want to talk about it ever again. Thanks for letting me vent.

      Tyler

I feel for you my friend. I don't know what kind of **** would do something like that but sooner or later something as unique and well known as 50/50 will show up and when it does I suggest we all pay the **** a visit.
