      DC Controls contact info?

Forget the best way, what way is there to contact them?

I have tried a couple of emails, and numerous (and I mean over 10, maybe 20) phone calls. Usually the phone line is busy, but occassionally I get lucky and it rings...endlessly.

Is the guy still around? Does he hate talking to people? What gives?

Who has tried the DC vs. the Spal? I like the slow startup on the DC, at least theoretically.

      Thanks.

Thanks. I guess I can cool my heels as it's not an urgent thing anyways. I just figured since I have the fan sorted out, I would get everything sourced.

Karch, I have both. If Brian had been more accessible, I would have probably NOT have tried the Spals.

As it stands, I'm now glad I tried the Spals, I like them a bit better. Brian's product is outstanding, and I have no intentions of removing it. I'll be buying another controller in a few months, and it will be a Spal.

The initial 100% power shot gets the fan spinning, then it backs down. With my DC, I can hear the fan motor humming until it gets enough juice to get it to initially spin - I suspect the 100% is better for the motor than the humming!

Jabin had given me directions on how to use the Spal to trigger my electric waterpump. But, I went a different way. I used a second Spal to work the pump. I pig-tailed the sensor wires, to use one temp sending unit. I have the pump set to turn on early, then fan, then the pump to 100% and then the fan a bit later. Only have a couple hours of run time since completion, but my temps have yet to hit 180!

      Good luck!

      Thanks Lee...that helps.

While I was leaning toward the DC...it seems it's not worth the potential aggravation if I ever need to talk to them or get support.

Something I learned a few years back...if you overlook things because you want it just so, it comes back to bite you.

Jabin, I'll give you a shout when I am closer to getting this thing done. I've got some electrical upgrades to install first, or else I'm really going to have problems.

Sounds good. Just let me know when you need to get something going. Lee, sounds like your system is up and doing fine. What electric pump are you running?

Jabin, it is the high-flow version of the Meziere. So far, I'm running the stock alternator. With neither the pump nor the fan running for the first couple of minutes, the alternator has time to charge up the battery. I'll probably have to get a higher output alternator eventually, though.

I'll have to get another SPAL from you, before I put the Mk VIII fan in my Cutlass. I pirated that controller to run the pump!

Will do...and probably a pair, as my buddy wants one for his MK VIII fan.

Hey, that's cool. I'm putting together quite a few kits tonight as a matter of fact-it'll be another late one...lol. I have two Spal controllers for myself at the moment on one of our test cars. One controls the electric Mark VIII fan and the electric CSR water pump, the other controls the electric transmission fan via the temp sensor in the remote filter block. Engine stays at 185-190, the tranny at 175-180. Reduce the amount of heat in the tranny (to a point) and you really extend the life of it. Stable cooling temps are key.
