      Truck touring...

      Hi guys,

Been awhile, i sold the firebird and now own a 04 silverado short bed std cab 2 wd v6 5 spd. I just got my 20 inch wheels and tires today. next pay check is 2/4 drop for it. Future plans include wilwood 16 inch brake upgrade. 14 inch rear upgrade. viper t56. 9.3 liter BBC. I am pretty much tryin to build a pro touring truck. If anyone else has had any experience doing trucks any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a v8 ranger for a while and it was hard to get it to handle well. First thing I would recommend is to make sure your spings are designed to help the handling and not just lower the truck. I had some cheap lowering spings and changed to eibach spings and it was way better. Another thing is to get the motor back as far as you can I set mine into the firewall 3" and that made a big difference.

Cool i appreciate the input. I plan on for now using the stock springs til i get the big block lined up for it. The drop uses spindles and hangars and i retain the facotry springs front and rear.

ED got to www.ridetech.com. If you want the truck to handle check out pics from the street challenge. you can go low, ride sweet AND burn corners and still keep a load carrying capacity.
NO NO NO dont do the spindles I just tried to align one with drop spindles, talk about a mess. I couldnt get enough camber for some reason.
Try air ride its so much better.

My mcguahys spindles worked out good. Now I got the same drop with a stock spindle thanks to the heavy 8.1 in it.

Is there anything i could improve on this? I am thinking double adjustable shocks and maybe a watts link.

Lets see some full on shots.
Shockwaves would solve your problem. You could get rid of those shocks and it will really clean it up under there.
I vote watts.Watts links are bad ass.

I am trying to fix the aero of my barn door on wheels. I plan on running the truck at maxton at the end of october. I am going to make a belly pan, block the grille, a wierd custom bed cover, and some kind of rear diffuser. I already have smaller mirrors oh and some kind of front splitter. Any other suggestions. I also bought some c6 z06 calipers to do a 15 inch front 14 rear brake setup on the truck.

I also bought these for the truck to clear the brakes etc.

You're lucky, you have a few options for watts links. Unlike me and my Tahoe, hah, I dont have any options, well besides a weld-in which is what I'm eventually going to be doing.
Not quite sure what you can do to make your barn door break through the air besides what you already have planned. Sounds great and will look even better.
That brake and wheel combo is going to be sick. Though not sure if its the ideal set up for any kind of track duty.
      What do those 22s weigh?
Regardless, we need to see some updated pics of this bad boy.
