5.5 to 4.5 diameter bolt pattern?

In laymans terms can someone explain what is involved in switching from a 5.5 bolt pattern in a truck 9" rear end to the passenger 4.5 diameter bolt pattern? Thanks

The axles will have to be redrilled on a mill with an indexing head to get them accurate. This is very improtant because if the holes are not accurate then you will have an extreme vibration. You cacn send them to Moser Engineering and they will drill them for you.

Also make sure the brakes will clear the larger diameter ends. Especially if they are hub centric.
