There not bad for the price. You can you pretty much all ls1 parts on them too. You can also punch them out and basically make an iron LS1 outta them. As with most of the LS based engines the possibilitys are endless. What is it goin into?

damn good choice for a budegt build. If you afford it though, I would recommend a 6.0 as it is the same dimensions externally as the 5.3. The 6.0 typically costs 500-750 more than a 5.3 though.

The 6.0's came in SS chev 1500's and vortec max's and most 2500/3500 chev silverado's and GMC Sierra's and suburbans. There really only a couple hundred bucks more than the 5.3's. There are 2 different versions. LG4 and LQ9's. the Lq9's make more HP and torque. They were offered in Escalades/denali's/SS Silverado's I think.

If your looking for reasonably cheap power....find a shortblock, and slap a magnacharger on your 5.3 (or 6.0), and have 425+. I have a 5.3 in my silverado 4X4....Granted, I've got a few extra pounds on you....but its nothing to right home about as far as power goes (and its not all stock).
