12 bolt vs 9"
Hey guys,
Which rear end do you think is the best? I'm going to upgrade from my 10 bolt and was wondering if one was better than the other. Ofcoase ever body knows that the 9" is a little bit stronger but what about driveablility?
Right now i'm only going to put 350-400 horses to the ground but i eventually plan on upgrading in the future to twin turbos...would it be wise to go with a 9" right now even tho i hear the 12 bolts are more efficent?
Thanks for the help!

If you're going to street drive it only, then I'd go with the 12 bolt. If you're going to race it with the TT's, then I'd go with the 9 inch.
I had a 12 bolt in my old GTO and it ran a best of 10.09 @131 weighing 3400lbs.. They can take a beating, but for constant race abuse, I'd go with the 9 inch. The one piece housing and stronger center section are worth the extra weight and HP drag. On the street, you're going to spin the tires, not hook, so the 12 bolt will work for you.
The driveability of either will be determined by your gear and posi/locker choice.

Thanks Goatman,
My intentions are to build a car with driveability... you know, take to car shows ect...
but, I'll still probably end up taking it to a road coarse/ drag strip once in a blue moon so i can prove it can handle as good as it looks.
What posi/locker would you recommend? I was told i should go with a Moser 12 bolt trutrac. I'm not too familar with really any other choices.Kal
