      Tpi 350 Motor Questions Fuel Lines

      I buying a TPI 350 motor. I have an aftermarket computer and the harness as well. Everything at least for what I was told was that this is set up for a plug and play application, 350 HP. So my question is... How do I route the fuel lines? I plan on using an external fuel pump mounted close to the tank. I know many of you prefer an inside tank pump but for ease of installation I am thinking the outside pump would be better.

      What kind of lines to I need to run? Also, Does everything need to be hard lined or can I use clamps and hoses? If so where would I run them? Can I use a DOUBLE lined fuel sending unit in the tank and if so how would I run the return line? I guess I am trying to do everything with the fuel system correct since I want to make sure I have a leak free, safe system for this TPI motor. Also where would I run the fuel filter and should I run a regulator?? Sorry for all the questions but I am a EFI newbie.

      I have a TPI 350 in my 69. I have the fuel pump and filter mounted externally by my gas tank. From there I have hard lines running up to the driver side of the engine compartment. Then I have high fuel line hose clamped to finish the routing.

      You can use 3/8" steel feed line, and Dorman makes repair lines with the correct Saginaw fittings with a short piece of line to connect a factory-style EFI fuel filter somewhere after the pump. You can even use a bracket off a full-size truck or TPI F-body to mount it to your subframe. Once you get up to the fuel rail, you can use factory EFI rubber lines and merge them together. My feed line is all steel line with compression fittings to join the different sections. They've been fine for 2 years and 3K miles, but I will redo them this spring/summer with double-flared fittings and unions since I have a halfway-decent flaring tool now.

      OK Thanks but I have a couple of more questions... First how did you connect the filter and pump to the tank? Did you clamp hose from the pump to the hard line going into the tank? Also, do you have a fuel pressure regulator and if so where did you mount it? Also, what did you do about a return line for the EFI?? Thanks

      Here are some pics of my fuel setup. It has been about 11 years running so it is kind of dirty, but you will get the basic idea. As TPI Monte SS said, the dorman fittings are the better way to go. That is what I will be using when I do my conversion to an LT1 intake. I will then run stainless braided lines to the fuel rails and weld in fittings to the rails. The regulator is just one that you buy from Summit Racing that mounts in the original location. Hope this helps.
