Destination for the Hot Rod Hobby

i've been thinking about this for awhile. i have come to terms with the fact that i am not a visionary in this hobby. i always have felt like the latest & greatest that we are seeing in all the magazines & the forums is Hot Rod nirvana. as if 'we have arrived'....

pretty much, we are seeing unreal fabrication that is getting powered by twin turbo type of power plants, all in streetable form and pump gas. how could this have been envisioned just a few years ago.

just when i think that we have arrived.... destination twin turbo on a cool vintage car with some sweet mods to the body and remarkable handling capabilities....

then i open today's delivered Hot Rod magazine and see the project that Foose is working on.... are you kidding me? where is this going?

called The Hemisfear. 2,775 pound car the he basically made out of carbon fiber. the glass is a custom windsheild and kind of a glass bubbletop. has a crate Mopar 392 that will be available soon and makes 560 hp, 508#lb. motor sits behind the driver under glass like a 360 Modena. it's a production car, and one available to you too for $298k.

close your eyes and imagine what the Prowler was supposed to look like. it's got kind of a Hemi theme with the green color and black dashed stripe down the side.

so, it seems that even the body gets custom fabbed from the ground up. glass too. who needs a shell to work around.... just a CAD program? remember about 8 years ago, shelby did this with his Series 1 car was all carbon fiber and made about 500 of them, but i suppose with today's technology, it becomes more reasonable for this process to get repeated.

If I remember correctly, that was Chip's Senior Thesis about 10+ years ago. It was his pet project for years as far as I know.

You're right... this morning, I googled his project and saw that it was there, but I don't *think* it was functional yet? When I saw that, I kind of cringed and waited for you to post this .... anyhow, not all of us get to go to SEMA
