      Forte's Parts Connection

I need to buy my tranny, and with no disrespect to forum sponsor Classic Chevy 5 Speed (whom I have heard very good things about) I was wondering if anyone has bought a TKO from Forte's? I dealt with Mike Forte back in 2000 when I built my FFR Cobra and the experience then was good.

Forte's is only about an hour from me, which is desireable. I am looking at a complete TKO 600 kit with crossmember, clutch, and flywheel. How much are people paying for a complete kit?

Forte has moved to Framingham, not sure if you knew that or not. I bought my tranny and flywheel from him and the flywheel was wrong. I know selling the wrong parts can happen to anyone but you should be very careful. Just thought I would share my experience to help you make your decision.

I bought my original TKO-I ~4 years ago from Forte's. Had no problems whatsoever and he's one helluva nice guy to talk to. If it were me, I'd still with CC5S due to the completeness of their kits and excellent customer service.

I dealt with Fortes Many years ago as well prior to CC5s and other offering kits. His stuff was good and he is VERY knowledgable. My buddies '67 still runs the Tremec TR3550 (prior to 500/600) he got from there. Obviously the saving in shipping is what you are looking for.

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?

I bought the TKO kit from Forte's a few years ago for my 92 Camaro (got tired of blowing up T5's). Kit was very complete and I have had no trouble with it at all.

      Thanks for the input guys.

I have had good experience with Forte's in the past, but I put a call into CC5 Speed on Friday and had a great conversation with Jeff. I was impressed. He was thurough and we put together a "kit" that would work for me (I already have a flywheel and scattershield), so I am placing my order on Monday. I will be getting a TKO-600 (street) deluxe kit with the optional shifter and McLeod Steet Performance clutch.
