      I Win!!!

Got a call from Best of Show. The estimater called them and said he was instructed to "get the car fixed" and that they agree to the labor rate.

I will get an initial check for $21,000 and then BOS will turn in a suplemental at the end for the remaining actual charges. Since we are super honest on labor time there really shouldn't be an issue.

I had sent the adjuster a link to my images on fquick.com and she said "hmm, this car is pretty nice". She ended up putting the value of my car at $100,000 in thier system.

I win and Penny V1.2 will live again!

I should note that the people I dealt with at State Farm were some of the friendliest there could be. They never copped an attitude and they actually seemed empathetic. Maybe it was my charm, maybe my insurance story.. whatever.. lol

In honor of this occasion I give you a teaser shot that Mike Harrington shot of Penny. I helped a bit in this one by coming up with the welder idea and by triggering my flashes in the interior. Thanks to everyone for thier support and once work starts I will put a thread in the PROJECTS area. Look for the August Super Chevy

      Congrats!!!
Man I was really worried about what the insurance companies would do.

I feel a bit better now, knowing if that ever happen to me the insurance wouldn't just total it.

The key is to not be at fault. Also, make sure you are COMPLETLY coverd by an AGREED VALUE policy.

The guy that hits you could be under-insured or uninsured.. there are many ways to get hosed.

Right on Steve! That picture is too cool, hope to see it looking like that again real soon. I once had my truck stolen, it was a sound off competition vehicle with a wall back in late 80's.I got the truck back a few weeks later minus stereo. They offered me 6 grand and made me feel like I stole it. When I told them I had receipts, pictures, and video of the system and would have to discuss this with them in person, I walked in the office and their was a check for $10,000 sitting on the desk with my name on it, thank you and walked out.

Congrats, man! Glad to here it worked out. That is really the way it should be. Bad enough you have to go through all this just for being stopped at a light. But now, Penny can make her comeback.

I have had State farm for years, My dad has been with them far longer than i can remeber. He an i have the same reps they are a family owned branch. We have had a couple clams over the past 20 years or so. They always looked out for us.
Good luck with your rebuild. Cant wait to see her perty again!

I'm wondering... did you give SF the heads up about the documentation of your car in the forums? if they did any due diligence at all, and saw how many people followed your build, and are waiting to see how insurance handles this, they would know that it would be really bad PR move to try and fart around with labor rates. I mean, after you posted the news about them agreeing to the rates, I found myself thinking that SF might be an okay company. If they chunked this process, it would have stuck out in my mind that they are rats; prob the same for others on the board I would think.

So... do you think they made a particular effort on this case because so many people are aware of it?

      Congrats btw.

I think Steve's point about being not at fault is important here. How good an insurance company is is shown by how they treat you when you file a claim against your own policy.

Congrats. Winning with the insurance company is a little like winning the lotto. Glad to hear it worked out.

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?
Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?
