      this cam is listed for LT1 does anybody know if it can be used in a vortec block?

      Yes, The Vortec designation refers to the heads, not the block. The limiting factor is the fuel pump lobe. I can't remember if mine (CC306) has it or not. If you are running fuel injection then it doesn't matter.
