      C4 IRS in 2nd Gen ?

It seems that the C4 IRS is coming down in price pretty fast. By the time I'm able to begin my '78 G-thang project, they will be even cheaper. I've done a search and haven't found any info on a 2nd gen swap. I know alot of the 1st gen guys have done this. Will the C4 rear not package well within the 2nd gen body? What is the hub to hub measurement on the C4 rear?

Okay, after many hours on the web, I still haven't found anyone who's put a C4 rear susp. set-up in a 2nd gen. I have, however, found some measurements for it. I think. I've found measurements anywhere from 61.50" to 66" (!). I tend to think it's probably closer to 61.5". How does this compare to the 2nd Gen axle? Anyone?

You definately need to call Wayne Due and find out if he's done this - more than likely he has. www.waynedue.com

The 84-87 model year IRS is the narrowest of all of them. The hub to hub measurement is less than 62" I believe, so your 61.5" measurement sounds right. I have one sitting in my garage at home, and if I can find the time tonight, I'll measure it and let you know. Keep in mind, these can be narrowed also, os if you need a narrower width, you can probably achieve it. I know my car (67 ChevyII) is narrower than yours more than likely, and I'm putting it in mine. (3" narrower overall) Wayne sells a kit that includes all the brackets needed to install the IRS in 1st gen Camaro's and more than likely can do them for yours.

Stock 84-87 IRS is 61" hub to hub. 88-96 models are 62".

Like ryan said they can be narrowed to whatever width you need! we just put one in a 55' Nomad it wasn't too bad at all! I will try to get some pics up when the peices get back from the chrome shop!
