Help with running Mono's with an original Multi set-up

My '69 Firebird came with factory Multi's, or at least I think so, that is what is on there and they are so shot, that they are inverted!

The car came with a new set of Alcan Mono's...why the PO bought them, I have no idea. Anyway, until I decide on a suspension set up for the car, what needs to be changed to run them?

Also I will be doing new shocks now also (to be determined...), as there are some lame Gabriel Air Jackers complete with leaks on the rear now.

I've seen much discussion and info on needing to run multi leaf plates and whatnot when converting from a mono....but what about the other way around?

Will my perches, hardware, shackles, pads, etc. all work? I believe the multi set-up is wider, correct? So would the mono's work, or do I run into trouble with them moving around laterally?
