      powder coating prep ?'s

I have a set of bb cast alum. polished valve covers. I am going to powder coat them silver. Just wondering if I need to sand with 600 to knock the shine off? Or something coarser. Thanks Cory

I am fortunate enough to have a friend that has a big PC company. He has govt. contracts and such. I just drop my stuff off to him and he preps them by an acid wash. If you are powder coating them yourself w/ a "home kit" then the "kit" should tell ya what kind of stuff to use.
If you are having a buisness do it then ask them what they use.

Since you are in Mobile, you should try these guys out. They are in Gulfport, MS just about 40 minutes away from you down 10. It is Gulf Coast Powder Coating.
PM me, I could probably get it done for you on the cheap. These uys are good.
