Fuel Pump size???

Well to start off I have a LS1 going into my 67 camaro. The LS1 has been stroked to a 383 and fast 90/90 combo with cam and AFR 205 heads and just basically full bolt on stuff. The engine while in my 2000 camaro made just at 500 RWHP it was like 49x but my point is what size fuel pump do i need to run to support this amount of power as I am planning on purchasing a tank from Rock Valley

One of the Walbro's around 255gph should do nicely.

i recently was looking for this information too. i think you can calculate off of horsepower and estimate of BSFC. assume your BSFC is about 0.50, then with 500 rwhp, you might have 590 flywheel hp? (assume 15% lost in drivetrain). then your max pounds required would be 590*.5 = 290#. premium grade gasoline weighs about 6.35# per gallon, so gph requirement might be 290/6.35 = 46gph. add in cushion of 20-50%, your required pump should be 55-69 gph at your required psi.

not sure if DeltaT's post was referring to liters per hour? but 255 lph would be right in the wheelhouse.

i think Rock Valley has 2 grade pumps, one is higher capacity for $50 upcharge, and that is for sure the one you'd want.

I agree as well, but that 255 LPH is at 43 PSI I believe. If you are at 60 with the LS1 I'd recheck the flow curve for that pump. I'm running that pump on my 496 and am at 630 FWHP or so. Have no issues at 45 PSI.

d'oh. i even told him it depended on PSI, then i didn't figure on him being at LS1 type o' pressure. good catch.

Brandon- with your HP & high pressure (ASSuming you are going with 60psi), not sure Rock Valley LS1 pump will work, perhaps they can provide a flow chart on that one.

Question for the smart guys..... isn't it a bad idea to adjust flow on a pump by adjusting voltage? isn't that why people are going to pulse type of stuff? Sooo... why do the flow charts show different flows at diff voltages?

When the alternator is running, you have, what, 14VDC or so? If you are just off a battery, around 12.5VDC is typical.

They are showing you will lose volume when voltage drops, so watch your electrical system, and make sure you have good grounds, cables, and connections.
