Nice x 2. I love Chevelles. My neighbor has almost the same combo in that chevelle. 454 red with black stripes, beautiful. Congrats.

Love those cars, especially the 1970. It looks just like mine except for the saddle interior. You're going to find it hard not to mod, I lose sleep over thinking about mods since it would be so cool to drop a huge big block in those cars. Congrats (again LOL).

Beautiful cars. I hope mine looks half that good some day. You have a Monte Carlo guage kit though... Did you get build sheet or protect-o-plate that shows its a real SS?

why do you say it is a Monte gauge kit? It is just the base model Chevelle gauge panel. Monte's are wood laminate covered.

SS setups had guages for the volts, fuel, and temp, rather than the idiot lights that the montes had. An LS5 SS car would have had a 5500rpm redline tach in place of the big gas gauge in your car.

Here's an SS kit with a 6500 rpm redline for an LS6

Nick, that gauge panel you show is the optional tach/clock upgrade option. The base model Chevelle SS didn't come with a tach or clock. There are even documented LS6 cars with the same dash panel mine has. Here is more info:

If the optional tach/gauge package was not ordered on the SS, then the SS dash layout would be as follows :
      Code:
            POD LOCATION SIZE CONTENTS
            ------------ ---------- ------------
            center large speedometer
            left large fuel gauge
            right large optional clock
far left small alternator warning light
far right, upper small temperature warning light
far right, lower small oil pressure warning light
      From this page: http://www.chevelles.com/shop/ss_ident.html

I also have various photos of other 396ci and 454ci numbers matching cars with the same dash.

      Nice Tony!
So for the Camaro you're getting a Moser third member and an Alston FAB-9 housing? What ratio?

MAN your chevelle is beautiful, I took some of your pics so I can make a background for myself, I just picked up a 70 Chevelle myself that I will be restoring, Im going to do it pretty much like yours, like an SS, its sportcoupe, but I want to make it a like SS, I guess a clone, but this is just my own personal favorite.......Chevelles ROCK!!

Beautiful car Tony. I wish I still had mine. I hope to do another one later. But I have found that if you find one with a nice paint job your better of starting out that way! Just my one opinion.
