      Can this combo take boost

      Hey Guys,
      im back. i was away a bit had somethings going on but getting back into the swing of things. I was curious on either supercharging or turbo the camaro. My engine (350 bored .04 4 bolt main) consists of trick flow 64cc heads, cast crank and stock rods, kb hyperutectic pistons with about 10:1 comp, comp cams roller 280hr, 1 3/4 hooker super comps, victor jr intake with 750 vac sec, 1.5 roller rockers, msd 85551 dist w 6al. Im gonna dyno the engine this spring so i dont know what it makes on its own but was wondering 3 things.

      if i do add a power adder i will drop the comp ( add thicker head gasket. Try to get to at least a 9:1 comp)

      1. With this set up can i add a SC or single turbo.
      2. What is the max boost i should allow
      3. What type of power should i expect to add (in #'s or %)

      IMO if I have the specs right for that cam.

      224/224 .525/.525 110LSA

      I think that cam will not work with a Turbo or SC. The LSA is too low, you will bleed off too much boost. 10:1 CR is high but you need to figure out what your DCR is with that cam to see how it will work with a Turbo or SC. If you switched a smaller cam and maybe some thicker head gaskets, then it would run better.

      correct on the cam. i was gonna drop the compression. Ifigured 10:1 would break the engine. i figured id put on this:

      this would give me about 8.9 comp. is that too low or would 9 - 9.5:1 works.

      seems there are not many SC and turbo cams available.

      With what i have and what will be changed.. if i add a procharger c-1, c-2 or p600b, what could i expect for rwhp or crank power.

      With that cam, wouldn't it be ok to bleed off some cyl pressure with that compression ratio? I know that you can run big compression ratio on pump gas by using a cam that has alot of overlap to bleed the pressure off. Should work the same with boost shouldn't it? Or am I kooky?

      You don't want to add any thicker head gasket that ends up making your quench (or squish) height over .060", or you run the strong risk of worse detonation than you would have with good quench (.030-.050") and the higher 10:1 CR. Do you know what your current piston-to-deck height is at TDC? That gasket you show would really screw up your quench. The cam looks better, but at that low a .050 duration you don't need a 115 LSA. You would end up with negative overlap and then you are probably leaving some power on the table. Overlap = (Int duration @.050 + Exh duration @.050)/4 minus your LSA. That cam would have around -6 degrees negative overlap.

      You could easily stay with the 10:1 CR, get the right blower or turbo cam, plumb in a good intercooler and run boost in the 6-8# range with premium pump gas. My Vortech-blown 383 is running 9.66:1 CR, a small solid roller (230/236, 112LSA, net lift .600/.602) and put down 501rwhp with only 7.2# of boost at 5800rpm.

      Since you are running a hydraulic roller, I'd go with something like the GMPP Hot Cam at 218/228 on a 112LSA. That would put you right at about 0 overlap. Since you aren't running all forged and you have the hypereutectic pistons, you're going to want to make all your power at 6000 or under.

      I figure you could put down a solid and reliable 450rwhp with the right setup. Then you can figure out how to make the car reliable and hook up at that power!
