Valve Covers: 400 Pontiac

I have a pontiac 400 and I am wanting to dress it up. Any suggestions on valve covers, air cleaners, etc. would be appreciated.

I really like the old school finned aluminum M/T or Edelbrock like valve covers or maybe a set of welded/fabricated ones.
As for the air cleaner I like a repro tri power oval, maybe with a Pontiac spear on it.
Another neat thing would be a properly set up Tripower setup anyway, very cool and I think Arizona Speed and Marine or one of the others has a tripower EFI sett up that would be sweet too.
As for me my Pontiac had simple Edelbrock Script Chrome vavle covers.

I have some old school Cal Custom ones from the late 60's. Not sure if I'm going to use them yet or not.

I run the same ones as 69TA, but I think they look better with a tripower! I painted the arrowhead to dress it up a little. They even clear my roller rockers.

I had an old school set of M/T polished and painted pontiac blue between the "fins", went back and had the chrome ones powder coated what is called Black Chrome.

Who sells the Pontiac logo ones you guys have? And they bolt to pontiac heads?

We used Kaufmanns sheet metal fabbed. The second pic shows them after sending out for polishing.

I really like your motor I am building a 389 pontiac motor just like it ( the one on the top ). I was wondering what pulleys you bought for the motor if your happy with them and do you have any more pics of the motor installed in the car I would love to see it?

I have black M/T on one motor, and those cast Pontiac ones on another. Chrome stock type on the really stock motor/

Same here. I love them. However, they have both good and bad points. The good points are that they look great, and they will never ever leak. The bad points are that they are heavy and they are big. Ty, I'm not sure if you ran into the same issue, but they are thick enough that they create a clearance issue between the valve covers and the alternator. I actually went to the March serpentine system because it moved the accessories 1/2" forward, giving me the clearance I needed. The other nice thing is that you can get custom height, so if you're running stud girdles like I am, and want plenty of clearance, you can get it. Just don't try to run a vacuum brake booster in a Gen 1 A-Body with these.

The pic below shows the small clearance even using the March setup, with the extra 1/2". Not complaining. I really like the setup overall.



Pay no attention to the car and air cleaner in the pic below. Those were just temporary.

I know this is an older thread but I am wondering, will these PRW fabricated valve covers clear the stock brake booster set-up? - http://www.prw-usa.com/4483. Have just put the 468 into the car and looking into some options.

I dont know about valve covers, but I think this will sure dress up that 400. ...just sayin...just sayin...
