Fuel tank venting

I've got the sump installed on my tank and had planned on using the original suply line as the return. Does anyone see any problems with using it this way? Also if I do should I leave the original filter screen on the tube?
What about venting the fuel tank? I removed the original charcoal can and really do not want to re-install it in the stock location. Do I need it? If so are there alternatives to the big ugly stock can?

Do you have pics of your sump I just pulled tank out of my 70 Nova and I need to get it FI ready. But really don't have clue.
