      just another newby

Figured I should just post something. I've got several cars but the most recognized is a 70 Firebird Esprit I built a TA clone type car out of. I run it at open track days at road courses, drag strips, the East Coast Timing Assoc. Monster Mile high speed events and drive it on the street. It's been a Popular Hot Rodding cover/feature car Sept 05 and in Hot Rod Sept 06.

Currently running a 400 with #16 heads, MSD, Performer w/speed Demon, Holley Blue,Canton Road Race pan. B&M shifter, shift kit in turbo 350,Line lock, drveshaft loop. Full Hotchkis "F 71" suspension with Bilstein shocks, frame connecters, Global west bushings, energy suspension bushings. Full interior with autogauges, Grant wheel, stereo and Schroth harnesses.

I have 2 setups for it. Centerlines with M/T ET streets and a 3.73 rear for drags and blasting around town and custom Torque Thrust II's with Yokohama AO 32 315's and 275's for road course and high speed stuff with a 2.72 rear.

Although I trailer the car to some events I've driven it from CT to FL and New Orleans on several occasions and drive it on the street whenever I can find time.

I'm switching some things to prepare the car for open road racing and hope to get to the Silver State Challenge.

I'm building a new 8.5 10 bolt posi with 2.41 gears with Moser axles with the tapered bearing setup. I'll be adding a full rollcage for safety and to be allowed to run faster at the ECTA and NASA events. I hit about 150 on the back straight at Road Atlanta at NASA events and am limited to 135 at ECTA events and thats kinda pushing it without a cage.

Unfortunately on a trip from from CT to FL where I'm moving my whole rig was stolen. They got my 84 Suburban with a 24" enclosed trailer and my 66 Mustang and all the personal stuff I was moving. I got the vehicles back damaged and parts missing and still haven't fixed everything. They kept my computers and all my discs etc with the pics I've taken over the years along with my welders, roll away toolbox, race jacks, stereos and most of my tools. No ins coverage!

You can still get the Sept 05 Popular Hot rodding and Sept 06 Hot Rod as back issues.

I'm not a computer guru and just have a n older used laptop I bought but I'll take a couple pics and see if I can Email them to ya.

John, It's great to see you enjoying that ride and getting the very well deserved magazine coverage! I will never forget the first time I seen you changing the tires on it ! Worth staying wasn't it?
I haven't talked to Ray in a long time, over a year. I tried calling, and never got a return call. I have no idea what's up with him anymore. Wish I knew.
