      Header Fabrication....

Anyone made their own set if headers out of flanges and a box of bends before? I have to make a set for my project because there isn't an out of the box type that'll even come close. They have to be 1"3/4... what gauge is good to use for keeping weight down... All tubes should be approx the same length... no more than 36" someone said? Any tips??

I will be making my own headers, but haven't done it yet. Try www.headersbyed.com they have kits and also have an info pack you can get first that helps.

      Also look at our site-www.stainlessworks.net

We sell any header we sell as a weld up kit, and also sell and stock 45, 90 and 180's. We will also custom laser cut lfanges to match your heads and/or gaskets.

      Thanks

I've dealt with HeadersbyEd, and I've dealt with Stainless Works.

I can't recommend Stainless Works enough! Top notch products, and great support. If you are going to make your own headers, you might get some ideas from an article I wrote a long time ago for Car Craft:
      http://www.carcraft.com/howto/0304_head/

I used a HeadersbyEd kit for that article. After that (bigger engine, more hp), I worked with SW to make another set of headers with larger primary tube diameters.

      Give Al a call.
