WRX needs new shoes

Ok, my daily driver, commuting Subaru WRX needs some new shoes! Any recommendations? Size is 205/55/16, but am considering going to a 225/50/16 for a little more meat.



I'm thinking BFG G-FOrce Sport, or even the T/A KDWS. 75% of the year its dry, but lately we've had alot of rain, and more ice, but very little snow. I drive to work (25 miles one way) on mostly freeways, which are mostly grooved cement. I'd like the tires to last, but still have spirited driving experiences

Has anyone noticed that the reviews on discounttire.com are pretty much useless? You get one that says they are awesome, then the next says its the worst tire ever.

Anyway, any recommendations you have is appreciated!

My Vibe has 205/55/16 Goodyear RSA's and they have been very good considering how aggresive I drive it. Brakes waste gas so turn faster!!
I got 27k out of the fronts and still had 1/2 the tread left in the back. I could have gone more up front but it is winter here and the snow and ice is here for a few more months.

The amazing thing about these tires has been how well they grip in the rain and snow. I usually don't like Goodyear tires, but these have proven to be a predictable tire for the way they respond.

I was driving through snow over 4" deep and going around trucks and SUV's that were truly having problems staying on the road because they had no grip and were sliding on the ice under the snow. With tires almost to the wear bars they were digging in and pulling me down the road just great.

I just replaced all 4 of them because I had a staple get in the pass rear tire and they couldn't patch it because it was too close to the sidewall. Anyway, the same tires are on a good sale right now at Discount Tires and I also had them siped. The weather has been really bad recently and with the sipping the new ones even handle better than the originals.

I have had tires siped before and you can expect more miles out of them and the handling to be very predictable. For the street it is a great saftey feature.

Goodluck deciding, if they hadn't already had the fronts done and the rear tire was good enough for them to give me $30 for it and give me free sipping on the rears I might have gone with the KDW's myself. I am happier with the new tires than I was with the originals and they have been exceptional in bad weather and since the other people in the house drive it , I feel better knowing the tires are better than the other cars out there.

You could go with new wheels and 17" tires. Plus sizing can truly make a difference and I was soooooo tempted with all of the nice wheels right in front of me!!!!!

check out the kuhmo ecsta mx, great tire for the money. I use them on my wrx and have had very good results with them.

besides with the wrx a lot of the wet traction problems don't apply.

Second the nomination for Tire Rack and especially the Kumho Ecsta MX's. Awesome tires, good traction, and not expensive.

I see on the write up it says that they shouldn't be driven in "near freezing weather, on snow or ice." Should I be concerned? We only get about 2 weeks of freezing weather here. I'm not really concerned about slipping and sliding around, cause on my stock tires with 50,000-plus miles, I think I'm the only one in town that has no issues on the ice...
