any improvement, such as port matching is going to improve flow numbers. When I was at school, a friend of mine port and polished a brand new set of vortec heads. There's not to much you can do to them to improve flow drasticaly b/c the heads flow pretty damn good to begin with. I would imagine you could pick up another 10 15cfm overall with a port and polish job and a port match.

To do it yourself, it doesn't take that long, its little improvements like that all throughout a build that make an engine run so well. Sure you could just bolt the heads up and wipe your hands of it, but think of it this way: Every step you make to further enhance your engine puts you one step ahead of the guy who's building the same motor and not taking the extra steps. You may gain more than 10-15 cfm, I can't remember what his numbers were but they were better. Do whatever you want. But after porting and polishing a set of heads myself, I will now do it to ever motor I build, b/c its alot easier than some would think. I would at least port match the heads
