      t56 hydro clutch

I just bought a 98 trans am. The guy I bought it from said the tranny was bad so I took it out and found the 3/4 fork was broken. The rest looked new so I put it back in and it shifts in all gears but the hydrolic clutch is not working. When I first start the car the clutch works for the first couple shifts but after that it just grinds when I try to get it into gears. I bled the system and it did not help.
I read that the trans ams before 2001 had problems with the hydrolic clutch and that they should be upgraded to a 2001. Any suggestions as to what I should do?
