LS2 Wiring

Has anyone used the Painless LS2 wiring harness? I am buying an LS2 crate motor. The Painless manual says this. Has anyone done these modifications to make this harness work?

If you have purchased an LS2 with an engine code other than those listed above, you can still utilize this
fuel injection wire harness after these engine modifications are made. Contact your local engine machinist
shop for help with these modifications.
1. The 58X crank shaft sensor reluctor wheel must be replaced with part number 12559353. This
replacement part number is a 24X crank shaft reluctor wheel from a 2005 Corvette LS2.
2. The crank shaft position sensor must be replaced with the part number 12560228.
3. The 4X camshaft sprocket must be replaced with part number 12576407. This is a 2X sprocket from a
2005 Corvette.
4. The cam shaft position sensor must be replaced with part number 12568983.

Oh forget that.. switching the reluctor wheel is a MAJOR PITA.. and expensive. also, did I mention what a pain in the ass it is? Who wants to tear apart a perfectly good crate engine to do that?

If you have a 58x engine (chances are that you do) then use a harness/computer designed to work with it.

Thanks for the help and saving me the headache. The speartech stuff looks nice but that $2000 price tag is a little harsh. Any other ideas or slightly budget friendly ideas.

I can't beleive that someone hasn't figured out how to reprogram the LS1 pcm to use the 58x reluctor ring,or possibly made an interface module to convert the info to the old pcm

If you supply your own harness it's much cheaper..


Try Turn Key Engine in Oceanside CA. They have a 5-wire deal that uses the GM marine computer. I bet it's a LOT cheaper but it is less capable compared to the normal computer.

You can buy the harnesses and computers on eBay as well and then have them reworked

I notice that the Speartech for 4L60E comes w/a trans controller.

Know if it'll (controller) work w/the SHRIFTER???
