well crap i better get me another 85-86 grand prix before the prices go up. i had an 86 for a while with the 3.8 V6. slow as dirt, but so comfotable and with the RWL tires on the rally II wheels it looked awsome to me. i want another one with the column shifter still working lowered with either a big pontiac motor or a modern LT1 or even an L98. blacked out dual exhaust that exits right after the rear wheels with quite mufflers, prolly turbos and just enjoy the ride. heck i think ill even take the landua top too.

      Hey everyone,
Just got back from Turkey Run. By the looks of prices there this weekend, I think camaros will prices themselves out of the picture one day. Since I have a 69 and a 80 bu I guess I am riding the fence at the moment. While I am here with all you bu guys does anyone offer a insert for the dash that would allow you to use after market gauges? I looked in Daytona and while there seems to be inserts for just about everything else, I could not find anything for 78-87 G-bodies.

Too bad all of those cars are in the smog loop out here in CA. If I could find a diesel that was somehow still running I would snatch it up and have a smog exempt g-body hotrod.

      Thanks,
I could not figure out how to get all the gauges in the dash but I see you used pillar pods. Which gauges are in the pods? Are they distracting when driving, especially at night?

If you have either of the instrument panels with the two large round gauges, the Autometer speedometer and tach can be made to fit right in the large holes with only a very small amount of clearancing. You also end up sacrificing the curved clear plastic window.

I used to have a car in which I installed a lighted tach on the A-pillar. Not distracting at all.

My store stocks an extensive line of Autometer components including the A-pillars for G-bodies (it's what I build primarily) and I use one for a B&M tranny temp. gauge and for my air/fuel ratio as well. It is not at all distracting to me. I have stock gauges in the dash but with bright white face overlays and hyper-white 194 dash bulbs, too-very bright at night. -Jabin
