      VW Bus road-racing

      http://videos.streetfire.net/recentv...810103e543.htm

Check this out! How cool would it be to show up at your local track with this thing. It looks like he fab'ed up the suspension and drive train out of a Porsche 993 Turbo.

MAN!!! That is the coolest race car (?) I have ever seen! I never dreamed a bus could go that fast! My first attempt (at age 14) at fixing up a car was a 62 VW bus that my parents drove for many years but had parked it when I was 10. We hauled wood in it for a while until I got it. I never did get to drive it but I sure had fun working on it! I have always had a soft spot for those big goofy things! Thanks for posting that video!

That was sweet! How would you like to be in the Audi TT, Imprezza WRX, Miata, etc. and get passed by a bus!! Too cool.

He must have some weight under the frame to give a better COG. That and a suspension from hell.

Some time in the late 70's early 80's(?), a VW aftermarket shop called FAT(CA) put a Porsche 6 in a stock mid-70's VW bus.Featured in VW/Posche mag, showed it doing a wheelie and spoke of the suprised faces on trips going up mountain roads to the ski slopes, total sleeper.
Another early 80's VW/Porsche feature had another later 70's VW van some guy put a turbo Porsche in, lowered it, added flairs to cover the 16" BBS/Pirelli P7 combo. For the time it was tastefully done.
I grew up driving my parents bus and occasionally my brother's corvair powered VW camper, hard to imagine having a turbo anything in the back with suspension to match.Great vids!

      Wow !
My first car was a '73 Super Beetle. It wouldn't do things like that.
      That bus is cool !
      Gotta' love those VWs.

That's funny! I bet there are some hard feelings around the track when you get beat by a VW bus.
