      How much to insure for

Hi - I am looking for some help estimating the value of my car. I don't have it insured for very much right now.

      67 Camaro Convertible
Frame off - Professional restoration - 10 years ago, only about 10,000 miles since restoration.

ZZ502 crate motor with TKO600 5 speed last summer, only about 1500 miles on this combo.

lowered with 17" bonspeeds this summer.

The paint looks incredible, the vert top and interior are starting to show a little wear.

Also, this is a factory SS/RS 396/325HP, deluxe interior, convertible car. The cowl tag has never been off and the title is clear.

Please help - how much should I insure the car for.

Call your insurance company and find out who they use in your area to appraise cars. I had to do this with my car and was surprised at the value they stuck on my car. It was a lot more than what I thought it was worth and the extra insurance was almost nothing out of my pocket.

Make sure you shop around and talk to a few people to find a good appraiser, they are not all up to speed on what things are really worth at times.

That is the problem. The last time I got it appraised for insurance - I took it to the guy they asked me to take it to. He told me give me 20 bucks and I will appraise it for whatever you want.

This time the insurance company told me to appraise it myself using comparitive pricing. Well I am seeing similar cars on ebay and hemmings from 25k to 75k. Lets not even talk about BJ because that stuff is just out of control.

I am thinkg 45K - I am just looking for some opinions on if I am out of line or not.

i went through u s a auto appraisers out of omaha, ne. website is usaautoappraisers.com or call (402) 681-2968. ask for bob. i sent him alot of photos and a detailed description. he e-mailed my appraisal to me. it cost me around a $100, but i thought it was worth it. very professional. i then went through hagerty for my insurance. i used the appraisal for my amount to insure my car for. i hope this helps.
