      LG Plasma TV

I bought a new LG 42" plasma TV from circuit city back in august of this year. The remote died last week, I called them up and they will gladly SELL me a new one. Remotes are only covered for 90 days. A supervisor was supposed to call me back on Friday, never did, I called back today and spoke to him. He asked me if it worked good for the first ninety days, I asked him if he thought it should last more than ninety days. LOL He would not answer. I told him about my Mitsu remote that is 15+ years old, NEVER had a problem with it.

I proceeded to tell him about a Milwaukee chop saw that I have. The saw was about 4 years old when I dropped it. The drop slightly bent the fence. I then called the company with credit card in hand, Milwaukee wouldn't let me buy one! They sent me a new fence next day air NO CHARGE!
GUESS WHAT? My soon to be finished shop is full of red Milwaukee tools. Everything from a hand held band-saw to a heat gun. He didn't get it.

My advice would be to think long and hard about buying anything LG. I was going to buy one of their mini-split A/C systems, not now.

Sorry to hear Bryan, that is frustrating!

While we are bashing electronics, I have a similar story with a 40" Samsung projection TV. Bought 2.5 years ago and it just died. 1 yr warranty. The board burned out ($400 to fix). Then when they fixed that, the discovered that when the board went it "burned" one of the projectors (or something like that). So after $400 I have a red line that looks like a Sharpie marker, running through the middle of my screen. For another $200-$300 that can be fixed.

Meanwhile I have a 50" Toshiba projection in my finished basement that is 7 years old, has been through 2 moves, and sat in a musty unfinished basement without being plugged in for 2 years....and it works perfect and has a better picture than the Samsung.

      Toshiba good. Samsung bad.

Sorry for venting, but I feel your pain.

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?
Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?

I used to work at Circuit City. It's things like that that made me get the hell out as fast as I could muster a new job.

You'll love this too. Assuming they sell the same TV still, or a model with a compatible remote, all Mr. Manager has to do is walk into the warehouse, swap them, and mark the TV with your old remote DEF_P, as in "we get full credit from the manufacturer." I gurantee you he just doesn't want to bother.

In my entire stint there, I had one manager who did his job. The rest just jerk eachothers soda's in the General Office, i.e. the hidden room in the middle of all Circuit City stores.

My reccomendation to you, buy another TV, swap your remotes, return it. If you want to be more of a ****, buy it from a different store, then return it to the store in question. Buy service and return it too. That'll really piss them off.

--- off the soap box ---

Everyone is a customer at some point... I figure why not just take care of them the way you'd hope to be.

      LOL

I was telling someone else about this junk LG remote the other day. He told me about a couple of similiar things that have happened to him over the years but then he perked up and told me this story:

He had an MSD ignition box which HE fried by mistake. He sent it to them to have it looked at. A little while later he gets a delivery, in it a note says that, yes, he did fry it. Along with the note a brand new box was included, no questions asked! You should have seen the enthusiasm this guy had about MSD. He has since gone out of his way to buy as many MSD products as possible.

Guess what? I have been thinking about a new distributer, was between Crane and MSD. After I heard that....MSD baby! Isn't that how it is supposed to work? Pretty easy IMO. I have worked for myself for as long as I can remember and treating the customer right always gets you repeat business.
