Yes, I just can not see building one with anything else but a BBC. Heavy cars with fat boys need Cubic Inches.
air ride pieces will fix handling issues, should be a decent piece when we finish it.

The '03 where the 211 chassis as well correct? Due to cost I am only considering a '03 or '04, are the electronic issues really that bad? What should I look for?

The 03's are the 211 chassis as well. I'm on the E55 boards and it seems the common problems are the brakes. That's the only problem I've had with my 04. The SBC system is all electronic and it has failed several people including me. Driving down 95S at 85mph and the lights start flashing. No brakes at all. It seems that MB had put out a recall on the car and mine was one of them. Other than this, I haven't had any problems and since the 1st week of ownership (when this happened) I've never had the problem again. If I didn't have one and was in the market, I would probably look for an 06. They change over the brake system in 06 I believe. Maybe Stuart can chime in on this one as I'm not 100% possitive.

I will also add that you will not find a car that can do the things this car can with as few issues that are out there. I know guys that have their bone stock cars running in the high 11's out of the box, My car with just minor mods is low - mid 11s on street tires. I took the car on a 1400 mile road trip and went to the track the day I got back. You can't haul 5 people in comfort/luxury and run the same car at the track in the 11's. I've toyed with selling the car and I just don't see anything else out there that I would take over mine.

Thanks, that is what I wanted to hear. I would love to have a '06 but I cannot justify the cost over a low mileage '03 or '04.
I cannot imagine the surprise on people's faces or the comments after the run at the track when you run a mid 11 second run, that has to be one of the best features of owning the car.

You know with all this talk about high powered luxury sedans, have you looked at the Cadillac STSv? Saw one today I believe(couldn't see the badge). I think they are gorgeous. Supercharged Northstar V8 making upper 400s with a lot of torque as well. RWD again finally. Just a thought. I'm thinking brand new they are around the same price as a used 03-04 E55. Then again I haven't looked at a used E55 to know honestly.

Yeah, the STS type V is pretty cool, ironically it is also 469hp, but it is only $10k less than a new E63 so it is not in my price range.
