Main girdle Question. Ford Guys can help too.
I see they sell MAin girdles now for 400 SBC.
Do you have to Align bore the block to run main girdles?
Probe industries say no for their girdles. BUt I would be going from ARP bolts to Studs n Girdle.

I would say YES.
Any time you are changing clamping loads you are changing cap and block distortion.
Id also suffice to say that the girddle is going to change distortion wether or not you change from bolts to studs.
And if your making enough power to need a girddle than youve obviously spent enough, so why skimp now?69 Camaro

I really don't see these being needed on a Small block Chevy. At the point in time you are making the kind of power to need a main girdle on a SBC you are already in aftermarket block and splayed caps land.1971 Camaro, 383 stroker ~500HP,M21 Trans with lightened flywheel.
