      HVLP Spray Gun

I just bought a new HVLP gun at work for $30. We had some items in our marketing conference room that we auctioned off to employees. This gun was built in the mid to early 90's. It's never been used and still in the box. The only thing is that it's got the paint cup under the gun. The paint cup is pressurized. The kit came with the gun, paint cup, wall mount regulator and a large 40 feet supply hose(looks like a black water hose). The manual said this regulator supplies the gun with 10psi of heated air. I'm not sure where the heat comes from.
I've got two cheap gravity feed guns (not HVLP) I paid $60 each. One to spray primer and one to spray the door jams. I've never used a HVLP gun.
Has anyone ever used a gun like this one (pressurized cup HVLP)? I'll be ready to spray my 68 next spring and thought I may use this instead of buying another gun.

      Thanks for any info,
      Jim Vest

a 1.0 mm tip is seriously small, what kinda business do you work for and what would they have used this gun for????....I've never used particular gun (do own an accuspray HVLP with the pressurized cup, it's kinda scary to use) I use a couple conventional HVLP's to paint with both gravity feed Iwata's 1.3mm tip for color and 1.4mm tip for clear....the difference could be in the pressurized cup

all I can say is hook it up, buy some cheap paint and try it out...I know th accuspray I have takes alot of getting used to compared to a normal gun but they can turn out some really nice paint jobs

I think you have a gun and hose for the turbine type HVLP systems, not compressed air style. Try this link, http://www.spraytechsys.com/literatu...WebHVLPbro.pdf

This kit came with the ACU-540 air conversion unit so you can connect it to regular compressed air.

      Matt,
I work for Black & Decker corp. I'm the maintenance manager at their DeVilbiss Air Power division. The DeVibiss spray gun products was sold to ITW about 6 or 7 years ago. I've been here only one year. We didn't use this gun, it's just one that was sitting in the corner and didn't make it to ITW. I can still order fluid tips and needles for this gun through ITW, I just need them to recommend the proper size for the chromabase DuPont paint I've sprayed my jams with.
