      Manual Overdrive alternatives-IE non-performance

It is pretty well estalished that the T56 & TKO 5 speeds are the trannies of choice for most of what is being built here.

What I would like to get however, is some input on what would make a decent swap for a daily driver. The goal is mpg rather that mph! I'm building a 51 chevy truck with a 307 pulled from a 69 Camaro. I intentionally took this particular engine as there is little hope for it in the realm of a perfomance build. Had I chosen a 350 I know I would have a hard time leaving it alone. I want to get the truck to driver status so that I can turn my attention back to my 68 Camaro.

That said, since I'm going with the 'mild' 307, which I'm guessing to be about on par with an 80's 305 hp/tq ratings, would the Camaro/Firebird V8 T5 be a good choice considering my intentions? The primary driver in my choice is going to be cost, with ease of conversion a close second.
