      Windshield removal

Anyone know how to seperate front and rear glass from the sealant without breaking it? I already spiderwebbed my windshield. I would like to leave the rear intact. Thanks!

Rear glass is tempered (a whole lot stronger). It will take more abuse than a windsheild. I use piano wire through the sealant for both. Pulled front and rear glass out of 3 '69 Camaros and a '76 Vette without cracking any of it that way. I used this kit

That sounds good. I was thinking of poking a small hole and pulling a copper wire through. I will give that a try. Thanks!

Copper is too soft. Try some mig wire, piano wire, or the woven picture hanging wire.

T "poke" your hole. Just find a mall thin nail and set it on the end of locking pliers. Heat it up with a blow torch and it will dig right thru they caulking.

i did front windshield on an 82 S10 a week ago and i heated it up, stuck heavy duty wire through, made loops, used wrenches as handles.

then i heated up the perimeter of the glass using a propane torch, pulled the wire through the heated areas, and stuck shims in behind the wire. where there was plastic trim(dunno if yours will) i pulled it out with vise grips, and then continued with the wire.

      good luck,
      Jerome
