      Panel replacement...

What can I expect to pay.... for

Full 1/4 replacement, full Floor pan -1 piece, and a full trunk floor? Just an estimate of what to expect. I havent been under the car, so it may not need it all, but just curious before I pay too much. Its a 66 Nova if it matters.....

Figure $$750-$1000 per side on quarters/outer wheel housing/trunk drop-off installation + cost of sheetmetal. If your car needs a quarter panel, it needs new outer wheel housings and trunk drop-offs!

Full trunk floor $500 labor plus cost of sheetmetal.

Full floor pan depends on the type of car and how far apart is the car ie, who is removing the interior? Does the front end have to come off the car? Do you have to remove the subframe? ETC. Expect at least $1000-$2000 labor for the one piece floor depending on the type of car and amount of disassembly labor/work needed just to get ready to install the floors and the amount of reassembly when the floor installation is completed + cost of 1 piece floor.

Moral of this story is to go buy a better car!

Thanks... Car is cheap, but that adds up fast.. didnt expect that for full 1/4s the rest isnt bad... I can take a part, that is no issue, but welding isnt my forte yet.....

Door skins expensive to install? The floor board need a patch in the rear, the rest appeared ok, he didnt have a trunk key, so who knows, underneath looked solid....Im preparing for the worst, hoping for the best.... 1800 for a 66 nova is cheap in my area?

$1800 is not really cheap with all the work the car needs. Yesterday, I was offered a rustfree 66 Nova from California, beautiful basecoat/clearcoat Marina blue paint, buckets/console, no engine or transmission delivered to Tennessee for $9000. Install an engine/transmission and wheels/tires of my choice and I am riding.

No panel replacement, no paint work, just wrenching. You cannot do all the work the $1800 car needs for $7000 difference. Never mind 1-2 years work of work and frustration.

Broaden you geographical area of seach and go find better car!

I am in KY... floor and truck may be useable... thing is the doors shut like new. The car was stripped to be painted, and that never happened. Surface rust is a lot of it, but I was preparing for the worst... Also something I wouldnt mind to mini tub and put a nice front end under. I hate to cut up a nice nova. Where is the 9k car?

Rethink the full floor unless you really really need it. Price wise its much less of a hit to replace a right & a left side. The full floor is a lot nicer, but requires much more work, sometimes removal of inner rockers, which you really dont want to do unless outer rockers are done ;-)

Yes, 700-1000 for 1/4's is about standard.

Go to Goodmarks site, & hit installation center link, they have a fairly good list of panel replacement rates that are pretty middle of the road.

Why would you need to remove the inner rockers to fix the floor pans. If the inners need to be replace you would be putting in a full floor anyway.

I have to disagree if the car needs a left and right floor pan I would do a full floor. I have done close to a dozen of them know and I can have the floor cut out in a day and the new one back in the next day and the overall quality of the job is way better than using partial pans

Edit: I just reread this and realized this is a nova not a camaro but I still don’t see why you would need to remove the inner rockes to replace the full floor

      Different cars are different.

Read my post word for word, I simply said, "sometimes removal of inner rockers is needed" I didnt say you have to.

Some places, on some models require it, see here.....
      http://www.theinstallationcenter.com/chevelle.html

I was just making suggestion that if his floor only had one or two spots, its more cost effective to maybe do just that section.

On the link above is a good example. 300 a side, or 1400 to do a complete floor pan.

I do agrees that its always a bnicer job to replace a whole panel, (as long as its a good quality panel that come close to fitting).

We can agree or disagree, its fine, it all gives this fellow input & ideas.

I just started posting here, not looking for argument. I agree with your train of thought , Ive just never done a Chevy II or Nova, so I dont know exact information to offer, just things to consider.

      Thanks, Jeff

      install parts

I would say that most quaters should install in 12-18 hours.

full floor in 10 - 20 depending on rust with out interior.

      door skins around 6-10 hours.

trunk pan 10 - 20 depending on full 2 piece or 3 piece.

install dse mini tubs 40 with out interior

we are at 44 per hour you do the math. not cheap but fair.

most shops would cut a better deal the more parts you have installed.

      Panels

I live in the northeast, so prices may be higher, but I found quotes on a quarter replacement running from 1000 and up. Floor pans were hard to find anyone to do at all because of liability issues.

Learned the hard way and bought a "fixer upper".
