      TKO600 Mockup

I am in search of something to use for a mockup to modify my shift tunnel. As I am guessing the chances of finding an empty TKO600 case is slim to none - is there another trans out there that has similar dimensions? Reason is, I do not yet have my TKO600 and will not for a while. Wanted a cheap way to get everything ready in the car before it arrives.

      Thanks!

What kind of car are you installing it into?

The trans is going into a 1968 Torino GT. I have not yet come across anyone that has put one into a Torino, so if anyone has any suggestions, by all means let me know. Trans will be mated to an FE based engine (likely a 390 derivative), and I am going to attempt to drop the powertrain slightly to bring the CG down and give me more room in the tunnel.

The plan was to modify the tunnel as necessary, and make up a custom crossmember. I am also working on an identical car with the same configuration with a friend that will be getting the same combination.

      Thanks!!

We have mock-up cases available if you need one. I have worked with several Ford guys in the past to put a TKO in their car. The latest guy was a 1967 Galaxie. I even have alot of pictures from his install that may help.
Let me know, I can send you the mock-up case

Be careful with dropping down the drivetrain... you will alter the driveline angle and could experience some vibration issues. Mating a TKO to an FE motor is no problem. You will have to switch to a short input as the FE bell is shallower.

Not sure how much things will drop - I am changing the entire front structure so I will have to see what it does for all of my driveline angles. I am curious to see where the shifter ended up in relation to the stock position on the Galaxie.

Pictures of a related Ford install would be great. If we could work something out for a mockup case, that would be even better.

Pm me or get in touch with me at [email protected] and I will get you the mock-up case.
If you can take some preliminary measurements of where you want the shifter, that would help too. Measure from the back of the block, down the centerline of the tunnel to where you want the shifter to come up thru and let me know. I am pretty confident we can hit it. You can also call me(or give me your number) and we talk talk about this. 865-609-8187 x201
