      Stuck ass Pitman arm

I'm trying to pull the steering box off my '71 imperial and the pitman arm is not coming off. it's moved a little bit. I broke 2 gear pullers last night, so today i got Napa's best 'pitman arm puller' ($38!) and i'm afraid to break it too. hoping y'all might help. thanks.

A bit of shock treatment. 2 hammers. Whack it using the second hammer as an anvil.

I've had this problem several times.
My solution was to use the largest rosebud tip I have and quickly heat the pitman arm, and apply the puller as much as I dare. My thinking was, the faster I heat it, there is less time for the heat to travel up into the box and melt the seal, that's the risk.

got it. let the tension sit on the puller for awhile, hammered on it, soaked it penetrating oil, came off a few minutes later. the torch would have been next...

      thanks all.

try Deep Creep the best pentrating oil in the world comes in a spray can like WD40 this stuff has gotten more rusty broken bolts and stuck crap apart then anything else ive ever tried and if it dont work by itself try heating up the part and spraying it and of coarse a few raps of a hammer helps to break stuff loose too.

Deep Creep should be avaialable at a good parts store
