      Gear Box or Steering Pump?

I need some help diagnosing a problem with my steering components. I haven't ever worked on a steering system as of yet and am not sure if my steering pump or gear box is going bad. I've been hearing a loud whining noise from one of them and also a moaning when I turn the steering wheel. It's definitely not quiet and one of them is definitely going bad. If one is going bad, does that mean that both need to be replaced? Please help me out here, I really don't want to have to take it to a shop just for a diagnosing. Also, any help with your advice on new components would be great.

      Thanks in advance everyone!
