      Paging ATS....

      Tyler and crew,

During the frenzy of Stielow's Camaro X "online unveiling", there was some discussion regarding the coilover setup he was running on the stock sub. ATS (I thought) said they were working on something similar that would not require engine removal or geometry changes.

Was I really , or is this for real? Do we have to wait until after SEMA to learn about it? Thanks hombres. -eric

We hadn't planned on it, but if people want to get on a list, call us and we'll put one together. Here is the copy and paste from our latest catalog supplement (WARNING- Sales pitch ahead)

Chicane-LM weld-in coil over conversion kit

Adjustable ride height is a requirement for track raced vehicles. The ability to properly setup the chassis to the track conditions is one of the basic fundamentals for achieving low lap times. Being able to do these adjustments without removing any items was a primary design requirement for the Chicane-LM weld-in coil over kit. The kit is designed to be welded in place of the factory upper shock mount, converting to a double sheer coil over mount. Since the factory upper control arm mounting bracket remains unaltered, the kit can be used with factory or Guldstrand modified frames. Designed around the racing industries 2 most respected shocks- Penske and Bilstein- the amount of adjustability and tuning available for these shocks is unparalleled. Unlike other coil over kits offered, the Chicane-LM is the only true coil over system that can be adjusted in car, including ride height and both rebound/compression settings when a Penske 8100 series with remote reservoir is used. Welding of the Chicane-LM coil over kit is basic and straight forward, and can be completed by a certified welder in a matter of hours, since engine removal is not a requirement for installation. The kit includes 2 weld in double sheer laser cut brackets fully welded with a stiffener plate and coil over spacer, RH and LH jigs, and all needed hardware. Optional weld in double sheer plate for factory lower control arm also available.

Here is a sneak peak of the parts during R&D. The Penske is for a client of ours planning on doing some very serious competition road racing.

We have made a bracket that positions it under the front frame rails, just forward of the sway bar pillow block. (the jack stand is in the way currently)

Would it be possible to get it up into the engine compartment either clamped to the front hoop or onto an innner fender?

Just thinking in terms of a street/track application (mine).

Well the reason I ask is that with some remote resivoirs the increased volume in the extended hose can cause problems.

      True-
We can build the Penske any way you like- fitting clocked to the housing at 0, 45, and 90 degrees from the housing, with any number of fittings, (straight, 45, 90 etc) and any hose length you need. It only becomes critical on an 8760, and the oil needs to be added or subtracted with a syringe to make sure the volume is not effected. The 8100 series shown above does not need to go to that extreme as it is a double adjustable, not a triple adjustable like an 8760.
you want it in the engine bay on a chassis down bar, you can have it.

      Jim-
Good to see you in here, since this is for your car.

Diggin it Tyler. The double shear mount on the upper end and the entire UCA mount looks much more substantial.

You know I'm always around here somewhere, lurking. But after our conversation today I had to pipe in about the awesome job that you and eveyone at ATS is doing on the front end. I really appreciate being able to work with you on this project.

This thing is going to rock!

What about the brake booster adaptor? That looks like a neat way to use a cheap C5 booster.
