Good deal. Never discount the 5.3 truck engines. They can be hopped up very well on the cheap!

If you change the water pump and balancer you can run an LS1 intake,The Pcm is the same, it would just need to be reflashed with a better tune.If it is 2002 or older it even uses the same throttle body,2003 and up you will need the gas pedal and module for the drive by wire setup.Try to get as much as you can with it,it always cost so much more,to buy later

      Almost but not quite tiger.

You can put a LS1 water pump on (or modify the truck top rad hose line on the water pump), LS1 intake, and change the plugs on the truck harness to LS1 style.

As far as balancer... Interesting, I havn't heard of anyone changing them for the swap.

Done the swap several times Tiger. You can modify the truck water pump to clear the throttle body, but then if the pump goes bad on the road it will require these mods, which may not be so easy on the side of the road. The balancer has to be changed because the water pump pulley is in too far on the F body water pump, for the belt to line up properly with the balancer

Yeah,The ls1 pump will bolt right up.Watch Ebay, you can pick up the balancer up cheap, because of everyone running underdrives.Just make sure it is an F body balancer, because the Vette ones are different. The only other issue you have is accessories, they won't line up with the Fbody balancer.I or a buddy of mine may have the accessory brackets you need

I was thinking,You could run an Edelbrock or GM perf. 4bbl type injected intake and run all your original stuff{balancer, water pump and everything}That may be the way to go,they are kind of cool looking too.
