DP90 - WOW, Sticky stuff!!

What do y'all use for cleanup of tools and hands after you've sprayed some epoxy primer!

I tried some paint thinner, but honestly, it only softens the stuff up.
I tried straight epoxy catalyst, and it works to a degree as you might expect, but, that is some sticky crap!!!!

So, Thinner, no go.
Goo Gone, for kids.
Goof Off - seems ok, but damn, this stuff eats the surface right off the kitchen sink!!! (don't ask how I know)

Try lacquer thinner first. If that doesn't work, use MEK. Be warned, MEK is baaaaad stuff.

Try the mechanics wipes that come in a tub. I cant get sheetfed ink off with heptane, but the scrubs take it right off.

On your hands? your kinda screwed just oil um up with some hand lotion and wear sox over night.
the oiles from your skin will make it come off eventually.

I bought a crappy gun to use with black DP90. Fortuntatly it was only 20 bucks so I am not out a whole lot, but the first time I used it, i filled the cup with some paint thinner and sprayed it into a garbage bag until it wasnt black in color.

The second time i used it, i took too long to clean it up and the thing is toast. That stuff is nasty.

You can use the same thinner you use to thin the DP90. Its not the cheap $3 a gallon its maybe $7-$10 a gallon and worth every penny. It will clean a paint gun but you must clean it right away, once epoxy primer hardens its like iron.

Wearing gloves is the best thing. Nitrile or latex are cheap so don't skimp. They are available where you by the primer.

Also for all of you that haven't heard me say it I will repeat it again. You can find what they label a callouse remover at the local pharmacy or your grocery store is where I buy mine and it will last for years. They are yellow and smooth on one side and blue and like a lava stone on the other. These things will take off anything including POR15. They will leave nothing more than a slight red mark if any and all they do is remove the surface of your skin hence the name callouse remover.

As for using any kind of chemical to remove something off of your skin, DON"T. It is not healthy and will cause problems you won't see until years later. I work in the paint industry and can tell you that some of these people I have worked with have bad memories ,poorer health than normal and say they used to clean there hands with the chemicals for years before they were told of the risk. Letting it wear off is not what you probably want to do but it is a better choice than chemicals.

Read the MSDS sheets on these chemicals and you will know what diseases I am refering to.

So go find a callouse remover for $2 and some gloves for $5 per hundred and be safe.

Also remember to wear your respirator mask until all of the fumes are out of the air for sure. The fumes can be deadly and will really mess you up!!!!!
