It idles and drives like bone stock. It does move when the pedal is pushed. I'll say that.

84 Monte Carlo . . . previously done, back to the drawing board.

Currently powered by a Vortec 5.7L with RPM Air-Gap intake, topped with a Demon 650cfm carb. Still has original, very scary stock suspension. I re-did the body when I was 16 (7 years ago). It looks alright but it needs to be tightened up and freshened.

Plans include a full suspension rework, starting with new bushings and C5 Corvette brakes, followed by a full-on regame including re-engineered geometry and frame stiffening.

      79 Monte checkin in.

      New to this site.

Ive done countless searches already, but I am not comming up with much.

The most fabrication/build work that i have seen has been going into the prestigious 69 that is not in my budget right now.

So I think that as far as build threads, I will probably have to do my research else where.

Is there a "THE ULTIMATE G-BODY RESOURCE" thread?

Small list of what will happen to my project:
Cage, better chassis, ford 9", fabricated dash/console, LSsomething, M6, not sure on wheels, lots of the chrome trim removed/need fab advice, bumpers are a BIG issue, as they are warped, they just look cheesy anyways, disks all around, something done to make the heater/ac unit look more eye pleasing w/out deleting from vehicle.

I want this car to be killer bad ass. Not sure if i can achieve that on my own, so that is why i got an account with the site that has some of the most bad ass cars i have seen!

When you read any of the build threads for other chassis, read them for ideas and general approaches to solving problems rather than for exact details. It won't be like keeping your copy of "How to Build Your SBC" with all of the numbers in front of you while you assemble your own 350.

Have you looked at the $5000 Mustang thread? I'd have said "take a quick look", except that's probably impossible.

If you really want the car to be KBA, plan on doing a few things "outside the box". Maybe many things. And once you start custom-fabbing, the specific vehicle that you're working with probably doesn't matter much.

If the plans are to take the direction of this car's build off on a path less travelled, there may not be much in the way of specific information available at this point - yours might end up being the build thread that others crib from.

See if you can pin things down a bit closer than simply "better chassis". Arguably, that's going to be where you have to start.

With respect to a cage in a street-driven car (I am assuming that you're planning on driving this KBA car once it's up and running), be very careful. Even padded cage tubing does not constitute surfaces unfriendly to unhelmeted heads - and it occupies space that said heads would try to occupy when things start going all wrong. If you aren't going to be involved in an area of competition that has specific cage requirements, there may be less intrusive solutions that would add some chassis strength/stiffness.

Which suggests the next question - do you have any specific performance goals and/or primary use in mind at this point?

Just keep in mind that maliburacing is primarily oriented to drag racing. There are a few of us cornering-enthusiast types over there, but only a few. Same goes for Montecarloss.com.

You might want to look over at www.scandc.com for some stuff that's available for the G-body. Mark (aka Marcus) is a sponsor here and one of the good guys.
