      Naming Rides

For some reason alot of us name our rides, how we come up with names is interesting , I will share my story.
I was 26 had my GN for 3 years was cruising the local strip when a courgar xr7 rolled up next to me at a light he revved the motor and looked like wanted to go for it. So when the lght turned green I floored it all of sudden I see lights flasshing behind me its a cop, pulls me over and gives me a ticket for "excessive" acelleration.
Thats were it began butit has many uses to the car.
      Excessive pain in the butt
      Excessive money pit
      Excessive Fun
So lets here some of you alls storys.

Mine didn't take much imagination. It is, and will always be, a bandit, thanks to a certain movie about 25 years ago that sold a few tickets at the box office... But it has other nicknames that my friends have bestowed upon it: "Trans-slam", the "Trans", "fireturd" and other variations...

I think it's normal to name our rides, after all, like you said they usually get nicknamed anyway in the natural progression of things, plus after we have owned them for awhile, and spent many, many hours driving and wrenching on our machines, we realize that they have become so much more than a "car". These machines become an extension of ourselves and our personalities in a way, calling them just "the car" doesn't do them justice!

I nicknamed mine "Pariah" because she is a 1956 Bel Air, which are generally overlooked for the '55s and '57s. If it was just that I would have called her "Middle Child", but she is also a 4dr sedan (which seems to mean "parts car" to most of the people who have tried to buy her off me), and so she became "Pariah".

My 2000 Camaro is nicknamed "Runt" because it is a V6, and my older brother is getting a 427 put into his '99 Z28.

Mine is a 'wagon, (typicly a grocery getter), that has a wild flame paint job (see my PTgarage) hence "Burnt Toast" was born. Currently going back into the toaster for a major reconstruction from chassis/suspension to engine.

I had a Dodge Stealth I dubbed "Stealth Bomb" because it was a piece of crap. It never blew up though, wish it had in a way.

I call the light blue '68 the "light blue '68."
      I call the '67 the "'67."

I myself am not big on naming my vehicles. If a name comes up and sticks for some odd reason then it will have a name. Hence, CRCRFT78. Otherwise known as CarCraft Magazines Project 78 Malibu for those aware of the car itself.

I named mine Samantha, after the first girl I ever had a crush on way back in 3rd grade.
I really don't have a name for my car that describes its personality yet.

Camtender(Contender);68 camaro that I built to what I hope to be a very worthy competitor in a few car/racing events that I'd like to be
able to check of my LIST of cool things to do.
      Camtender(cam=camaro,tender=money)Honey I need more money!
And her response would be,let me guess camaro money?
Now if I could just get Camtender to read right on tx plates(6 spaces)
      I'd be good to go.
For the mean time B2BONE plates will have to do,and she lives up to
      that pretty well also.

Call me crazy, but I usually just refer to mine as "the bird".

      Pretty wild, I know.

Inamorata: (n) a woman with whom one is passionate; the other woman.

Name came from my wife always refering to the car as "the other woman," and Innamorata was the name of a Pat Benatar CD. I looked up the word (it's proper english spelling only has one "n") and thought, hmmm....

I guess you know the rest, eh?
