      With a 72 Chevelle, you can also get away with 17 x 9.5 front and 17 x 11 rear.

If you go with 8s and 9.5s, I'd recommend 255/45 up front and 285/40 out back.

If you go 9.5's all around, you could either run 255/45 up front and 275/40 out back, or 275/40 all the way around.

With 9.5 up front and 11's out back, you can either run 255/45 & 285/40 (what I'm running on my 9.5/11 combo) or 275/40 & 315/35. I did test fit 285/40's on the front with the 9.5's and they fit, but were really, really snug.

I have 17x8 4.75 b.s. and 17x9.5 with 5.5 b.s. With nitto 555 255/45 front and 285/40 back. These tires handle nice and are pretty sticky when they are hot. I have a 1.25 swaybar in front and at full lock my tires will just touch but other than that I have no rubbing.

If you like the TTII gray center, look at vintage wheelworks V45. I used these and the bead blasted centers look really good in person.
