      Will a 700R4 fit a LS1?

Will a 700R4 fit a LS1? If it doesnt, does someone make a kit so it does?

5 out of the 6 bolt holes line up which should be fine.

Is that the hole at the 2 o'clock location? I thought you hit water if you drilled it out....

You may be correct Andrew. I just noticed it has the pad but isn't drilled. I was going with 5 bolts on mine, but good info if true.

there are issues with the converter lining up but I know gm makes a deal that centers the converter in the ls1 crank, or I think you can get a converter with the ls1 snout on it. A search for "non ls1 trans on ls1" over on ls1tech.com in the hybrids/conversions section should yeild the part number for the spacer.

Definitely not a good idea. Everything I have read claims you will not even hit water but you will hit piston!

Non-issue for me, I'm only going to run 5 bolts. I edited my original post.

My understanding is that the fly wheel and convertor wont match up. There is kit you can buy but the only place we found them was S&P. for a 1000.00. 0UCH. so we bought a 4L65E. its almost break even with either option.

as far as I know the th350/400 converter snouts are the same as 700r4's so the adapter in the first link should work with stock ls1 flexplate, and I think the ati flexplate comes with the adapter for the older converters.

The tranny fits, you just have to tack weld a little extra snout on the 700R4 convertor so it centers properly.
