      G-mod - upper shock location

If you were to do the G-mod by cutting the upper A arm mount and
welding it back on, how do you re attach the upper shock mount? I would think that you would leave it in its original position.

It seems the upper A-arm mount was welded above the shock mount, so lowering it below that would make up 1/4 inch of the diff. But what about the rest? Could the edge of the shock mount be heated and rolled down? How critical is keeping the original plan of the mount.

How many hours would it take a shop to do the mod per side (any estimates)?

I did it on my 67 Camaro.
As I recall, the shock mount is underneath the upper A mount. I ground off the factory weld between them and lowered the UA mount, then made a pie cut in the shock mount and heated and bent it down to fit.
