      Need A Vent

I'm building a console for my car, and am running the A/C through it to the back seat. So, I need a vent in the rear of the conosle. I had planned to cut slots in the end of the MDF for this, but it didn't work out and the thin slots are not strong enough. So, my next idea is to cut the area where the vent is out completely, and then screw a piece of metal on the outside that has slots in it for the air to flow. It will be a pretty simple design, about 4" across and 3" high, with slots for the air and some screw holes. Does anyone know where I can get something like this made, or can anyone here make it?

      Thanks,

Hey Tom, why don't you take a stroll through a 'yard and pick out some cool looking A/C vents from other cars... Mount those in the back of your console and the rear seat passengers will then be able to control airflow direction and amount with the vents. Do some digging and you will also find some hose and adapters to hook 'em up.

Hey Mark, that's an idea although I don't even know where there is a pick-a-part around here. Jim, thanks for the suggestion - I like those vents even though I was planning on a rectangular opening - I could go round instead although I would need to step down from a 3" vent hose.

I would try to match what is in the dash now just to keep the theme going... eBay may be a good start for vents or even one of the aftermarket guys are supplying them now... Put the new ones in the dash and the older ones in back where they aren't as visible...

I second ebay, you should be able to find a good selection of vents there for pretty cheap. You might look at something like a Honda center console, I know they have vents in the console you could always use those for example..... I am hooking mine up too, mine are from a LS430 Lexus... Got from Ebay

Some lexus rear vents out of a rx330 would be good there about the size you need and its two vents in one so if you just happen to have two rear passengers they can each have there own vent.

Exactly what Justin said, the RX330 is a good donor car for vents, also the Acura MDX......

Did you see the vents on the Yellow chevy on DSE's web page? Look about what you are looking for. Might call them to see where they got them.
