Back on the streets, '68 Firebird

After a major setback (one of the cars was stolen beginning this year) I got to drive the Bird again. One of the main issues was overheating:

Convert from mech. waterpump to elec. waterpump incl. changing waterpump housing

Aluminum pulleys, valve covers, cleaner lid, DSE wiper motor

New master cylinder and flex. brake lines

Installed tranny cooler, coil overs ( can't go to low cause of large number of traffic bumps overhere !). slide-a-links and changed gears. Also installed a T/A FG hood.

Took the car for a 200 mile drive to a Belgium car show yesterday and ended up in the top 20 (+ 1700 cars).

Feels good to drive it again.

Congrats! I like the TA hood too. Sometimes wish I'd gotten one.

Where'd the steering wheel and indian head come from?

      Roger,

Future plans are to paint the whole car. For know I'm happy with the black and white scheme.

      John,

The steering wheel is from Billet Specialties. Strelka Built who did the custom valve covers also did engrave the horn button.

I have the same aircleaner. It would not clear my hood but I needed it for the base anyway as it drops my ramair box down. You can get it for much less $$ than ramair box sells theirs for. This is where I got mine: http://www.stockcarproducts.com/acc9.htm

After Cliff took me for a ride in his bird I decided I needed another motor for my car....it's a real beast! (and I still think it doesn't need a paint job.....)

      Hey Cliff!

      We meet again.
I forgot to ask (and look),
what kind of steering gear (box) have you got?
Stock, custom or rack and pinion?

      Later!

      Aad.

      Love the black TA hood
